The Umaer Basha Foundation and University of karachi have converted the DCS into Institute of Information Technology named after outstanding pakistani student Mr.Umaer Basha (1979-1997).

The construction of the building was done under the supervision of Prof.Dr S.M.Aqil Burney.Former president of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, General Pervez Musharaf had laid the foundation of this buliding in March 2002.On Thursday, August 19 2004, Prof Dr.Atta-Ur-Rehman inagurated the Institute.

Chairman: Dr. Aqil Burney

Prof. Dr. S.M. Aqil Burney was born on 13 January 1951 in Karachi.After completing M.Sc and M.Phil (Stochastic Models of Insurance Business & related computing methods) from Karachi University, he went to Strathclyde, UK for his Ph.D in [Estimation of Parameters of Multiple Time Series Models (Development and Analysis of Algorithms & Simulation studies.Along with a huge list of research publications, the publications in the field of Statistics, Mathematics, Numerical Computing, Computer Science, Computer Graphics, Simulation, Econometrics, Operation Research, I.T. Artificial Intelligence and Risk Theory and Insurance are also on his credit.
